Provided by WikipediaPeople love to give away their usernames and passwords. That's the only explanation why I receive so many invitations from them to give away my personal data as well.

Common sense, a bit of questioning, the news, sometimes friends, parents, tech and support departments, they all warn us every day about the dangers of certain emails and web sites. Nevertheless, such black holes of personal data are so strong that many can't escape their gravity. Think of it like the fly that cannot escape the blue light that means certain death.

Email receiver's best friends

Web | 05 April, 2008

Origin of the term I admit it: I am an email receiver. I do receive emails, some more and some less important, daily. Occasionally, I even send some. Nowadays, one almost dares not to tell anyone about it because of the flood of unwanted emails arriving minutes after the world knows someone's email address, or even just the domain name. Holding a couple of domain names on my own mail server, I noticed a couple of odd things and I met 2 new friends.

What's in a new terminal?

Various | 26 March, 2008

Image by Wikipedia Apparently much because at Luxembourg's (only) airport Luxembourg-Findel International Airport, the believe goes "build it and they will come". Finishing the new 260 million Euro terminal, new and much business is expected.

I wonder how many people will actually make use of it when prices and airline and flight choices remain unchanged. I personally prefer to rent a car and drive 2 hours to Frankfurt Airport because under the current situation, that saves me 3 hours in transport, several hours in waiting for the connection flight and at least 200 Euro in flight costs after deducting rental and gasoline (2-way scenario).

Not to mention the low-cost flights to most European destinations at a tenth of the costs from other airports just a 1 hour drive away.

Aussie KITT

Entertainment | 12 March, 2008

Image from WikipediaI just came across a music video of David Hasselhoff featuring KITT, his trusty car from the American television series Knight Rider. "The Hoff" (Hasselhoff) himself is both beloved and hated, and now his partner in fighting for justice - his car - has puzzled me even more. Originally an American car, the one used in the video clip is an Aussie (clip made in Australia). I think it is rather strange to do such an obvious mistake no matter how cheap it was to use a local car and that the video was mainly used in Australia and the UK: the featured car is right hand driven whereas the original one from the US was a left hand driven.
For all those who never saw Knight Rider, I am sure you nevertheless know very well who "The  Hoff" is: actor and executive producer of Baywatch, according to The Guinness Book of World Records the most watched TV show in the world of all time.

Zombie movies

Entertainment | 11 February, 2008

I recently came across someone's review of a zombie movie which summarizes almost all zombie/monster movies ever produced. They all have at least some, if not all, of these features in common:

  • Intelligent zombies (conflicts with purists' views)
  • College setting
  • (Mainly if not only) teens dying all over
  • Massive rave
  • Drug use
  • Tits
  • Fart and oral sex gags
  • Russians (or other non-local/-US villains)
  • Donuts
